FIRST - what is the QT thing? Anybody know? Is that why it is noticeably larger? Is it that new 2D to 3D converter thing? WTH is that feature for? With that QT question unanswered:A jump in size of over 3 meg for a program that was 15 meg in 8.0.8.5? That's sort of hard to stomach. I would continue using 8.0.8.5 until the final release of this new version comes out to see just what warrants such a huge jump in size for an app this small. The core ripping product (DVDFab HD Decrypter) that is included in the main app remains Free and allows you to rip Full Disc and Main Movie for both DVD and Blu-ray IS worth using. It does a good job of getting your disc onto your local hard drive while removing protections so you can process that content with other tools. However, the full version of this product, which provides other features such as conversion to other formats, is NOT worth purchasing, imo. It is too slow, too buggy and much, much too expensive. DO NOT spend ANY money to purchase DVDFab retail. It is not worth it at all.Using the free decrypter portion of DVDFab along with the free Handbrake app should give most folks just about all they need.
FULL DVDFab Platinum V8.2.0.0 Qt Final Patch
very very good,I tried ripping Invincible (heavily protected)with anyDVD 6.1.6.5 then looked at the files with VOBBlanker, and DVDRemake pro and found VTS 3 had problems (authoring problems) which tells me that AnyDVD failed to remove all the structure protection completely.however I tried DVDFab platinum 3.1.5.0 and to my surprise no problems at all, then I tried ripping it and taking out the comercial (bypassing the need to use VobBlanker or DVDRemake pro) and to my surprise it did a lovely job, and vobblanker reported that the DVD structure was perfect, no errors at all,so I'm very pleased how this product is coming along, and further more, I an so astounded how well this program can remove commercials and still maintain perfect dvd authoring on the disk structure, which has allowed me to not bother using vobBlanker or DVDRemake pro,the only gripe really is, AnyDVD does seem to have a small edge in keeping up with the very latest protections found on DVD's, but not by much, and that gap is slowly getting closer, further more i feel that DVDFab may intentially take the extra time needed to make sure that there update releases doesn't brake any features that are already present, which I find AnyDVD does do a lot, looking at the AnyDVD change log, one can see a pattern forming where they do break things quite a lot, which perhaps they should test there updated version a little bit first before releasing like DVDFab does, and if this is the case, then perhaps this is why DVDFab is always a little behind AnyDVD.also giving the extra features that are now present in DVDFab I feel slysoft will start to full behind soon, SlySoft is a encryption bypasser only, where as DVDFab has grown into a full fledge, ripper, converter, editor, and DVD re-author.if I could I would give even more pointsI can only hope that DVDFab continue there excellent reliability (unlike at the beginning of the year where they did have some bad bugs and issues which I thought would never of been fixed, but they finally have) and DVDFab has become a powerful, and versatile program,
@Sanity Overboard,Now I know what your problem with this app is. You are one of the many disgruntled warez users who now find their key patches blacklisted. Too cheap to purchase it in the first place and now have to pay full price, you have my sympathy. ROFL!
At first I thought this Regan guy was kinda being picked on but after watching this you see he is wrong. Click on his name and he gives DVDFab 5 stars.Anyways I paid $117 + $6.48 Euro conversion fee by my CC. It was well worth it. I bought CloneDVD too and that also does a nice job. Handbrake comparing to others outputing in MP4 H.264 was not as good as others. I have not fully compared CloneDVD to the others. I could be wrong, but CloneDVD seemed to be faster.DVDFab seems to have to release alot of patchs for their mistakes. When I put the inicial demo on it didn't work right and could not use it. I called my friend who used it and he said no issues but has not updated in a while. Then later he told me his syster called and couldn't convert or burn DVD's and turned out she was on the same ver as me. Had to wait a week for a update. AnyDVD HD is soo much more stable and I would only get the HD version with the lifetime till the remove it because it will last you for quite some time. The next format will probably be digital files or streaming so you should get 5+ years out of the lifetime!!
COMMENT: Why would anybody need AnyDVD loaded just to watch a movie on their PC?Also, wouldn't it be much faster to rip a disk to the hard drive and process it and even view it from there? If you rip it to disk, you can use any program that is available to view it, can't you? I agree that AnyDVD is the only up-to-date app that does what it does and it handles HD-DVD and BLU-RAY better than anybody else out there that I know of, but I don't understand why leaving an optical disk in the drive would be in any way better than ripping it to your hard drive.I guess I simply don't see any benefit to the driver method over simply ripping it to your hard drive. Gigabytes are cheap and fast, after all. But if it works well for you and you are happy with it, that's the most important thing. ORIGINAL POST:My concerns and issues are well documented, so there is no need to repeat them in depth here.Unless you are a hardcore user of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray and need to take advantage of the superior capabilities in that area, I do not think that AnyDVD is a good value at all.Currently, nobody seems to do a better job with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, so that is why I bumped it up to a 2 rating. The ISO support merits some further exploration, and I will be trying to do that soon. I have historically ripped in full to disk and then let DVD Shrink output to ISO and then burn with ImgBurn, but if this feature works like it sounds it might, it could sreamline the process, so I want to give it some serious testing before making a final decision on that topic. If any competition catches up and can handle HD-DVD and Blu-Ray as well as AnyDVD can, I'd drop it back to a rating of 1 in part due to the value issue. An exclusive superiority like it has now would be undermined if the competition caught up, especially if the price was lowerSo, in summary: Much too expensive, System wide Driver model = bad because of resource usage and compatibility issues (stand alone EXE would be best, yada yada.I'm still pretty stunned at just how expensive this application has become. If they would just lower the price comparable to the other apps in the field, like between $40 and $50 US Dollars, I think there would be more people able and willing to purchase it.Anyway - if it works for you, that is great. Honestly. But a few changes may help make it work for a lot more people, which could increase the customer base.
As you just pointed out, Slysoft is fully aware that there are problems with Packet Writing applications and their AnyDVD software, so I'm certainly not alone in experiencing this issue. The proof is right there on their own forums. It has been reported to Slysoft in excruciating detail, by myself and others over the months and even years by now, yet they seem quite content to let these issues with packet writing programs continue uncorrected.BetaNews is not a tech support site, so I usually don't post details of every interaction I have with tech support, be it Slysoft or any other company, including the ATI Catalyst driver team. In addition, I do not feel comfortable disclosing my personal data, be it my real name or my actual email addresses, because I do not want to beharassed by people who may disagree with my ratings on this site. When I contact tech support, I most often use my real name, email address and telephone number and I do not wish that to become public information. I don't think that is at all unreasonable. That said, I paid good money for AnyDVD and used it for years before finally giving up on it. I was reluctant to do so, because it is like throwing money away when I have to stop using a program, but packet writing is a much more important function for me, and thankfully, there are other alternatives to AnyDVD, at least one of which is completely free. While it may be true that the number of Slysoft customers using packet writing apps like In CD and Direct CD are not as high as they once were, packet writing is still a feature that ships with the very latest versions of Roxio and Nero software. The fact is that these issues do indeed continue to occur, and Slysoft appears unwilling to devote the resources necessary to correct the problems.Although Slysoft had promised "Free Lifetime Upgrades", they reneged on that promise and decided to charge users extra if they wanted to be able to rip Blu-Ray and HD DVD disks, so it's not like they don't have enough cash to hire staff to correct the problem.DVDFab HD Decrypter (which is still 100% free software, even though they do have nag screens) added support for Blu-Ray and HD DVD ripping without charging users a dime and since DVDFab HD Decrypter is a stand-alone EXE, it doesn't get in the way of packet writing drivers at all.Slysoft on the other hand still uses a driver model for their app, which is much more vulnerable to compatibility issues. If Slysoft transitioned away from a driver model to a stand-alone EXE, perhaps they could avoid the issue entirely, but they stubbornly refuse to do that.AnyDVD used to work much better with In CD and Direct CD than it does now, and Slysoft has only themselves to blame for mucking it up. It's up to them to fix it. 2ff7e9595c
